We’re not just a gym

Generation Fit is not your average gym. Modern gyms are driven by numbers. Their success depends on hundreds of members paying for the privilege of never meeting their health targets.

The modern gym space is a peddler of artificial goals. People all too often jump from one fitness fad to the next, in search of a quick fix. Exercise is seen as a route to becoming aesthetically perfect – it’s all about tiny waists and Insta-perfect abs – the real health benefits are overlooked.

We understand that the idea of visiting a gym can be intimidating – a landscape of bulging biceps and unfathomable exercise equipment. Our aim is to provide a welcoming and positive environment for those who may feel anxious or vulnerable, to build themselves up mentally and physically.

With our expert guidance you will be challenged to move more, eat well, lift progressively heavier things of different shapes in different directions, stretch more, and build cardio endurance. We also provide clear advice and support on form/posture/correct equipment use. Ensuring correct form when using exercise equipment is essential to the reduction of injuries in the long term.

TIMETABLE

Keeping the community active
one step at a time

Generation Fit is a community fitness space with appeal for all ages and abilities. We hope to create a community of individuals who are educated about exercise and motivated to achieve their goals. We foster a real sense of camaraderie between our members – who will reap the benefits of working with like-minded people who share the same goals, discipline, and desire to make gains.

We are a child-friendly environment and welcome parents with babies and preschool children. We hold weekly daytime classes aimed at parents (see class timetable) who might otherwise not be able to visit a gym. We encourage joining in from even our smallest participants!

At Generation Fit we believe that the key to client success is accountability, motivation, guidance and support. Genuine and sustainable fitness is our mission. We feel that clients should be supported and encouraged to become healthier and stronger, rather than simply looking better in the mirror.

We provide our members with full support for their individual needs. Whether you are new to exercise or a seasoned athlete we can help you reach and exceed your personal targets. We recommend a PT session (1 hour – £35) at least every 6 weeks to ensure you are getting the most out of your membership. We want our members to feel motivated, happy and excited about achieving their goals, whatever they may be.

Specialists in injury rehabilitation

We treat each person we see as an individual. We aim to find the root cause of an injury by taking full details of the problem, completing a thorough assessment and generating a unique treatment plan. Our treatment plans may include manual therapy, tailored stretching & exercise prescription to help get you on the road to recovery and back doing what you love!

As your rehabilitation progresses we will adapt your plan to ensure you have the best level of function. We provide you with the tools to fix your injury problems and also to prevent them from reoccurring by addressing weaknesses and imbalances within the body.

We have used biomechanics to resolve over 70 serious back problems, countless shoulder, hip, knee and ankle problems. We have also worked with clients suffering from chronic and debilitating conditions including Multiple Sclerosis, herniated discs, scoliosis, heart problems and arthritis. ANDY BERRY
ANDY BERRY
Some people have a passion in life; something that puts fire in your belly, gets you out of bed early on the coldest of mornings, something that in part defines who you are!
I’m lucky enough to be one of those people. Since I was 11yrs old, inspired by my uncle Arthur; I’ve loved to train. I would sit for hours and listen to everything Arthur said, I’d buy every magazine and devour every book I could get my hands on! As my knowledge grew I became passionate about sharing my knowledge and coaching others.

I began to study more on Biomechanics, this seemed to be the key to both fixing injuries and refining the subtle nuances of sports performance.

Biomechanics is defined as “the science of movement of a living body, including how muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments work together to produce movement, specifically the mechanics of movement.”

So far, we have used biomechanics to resolve over 70 serious back problems, countless shoulder, hip, knee and ankle problems. We have fine-tuned athletic performance for Olympic level competitors, Super league rugby players, professional footballers, power lifters, Strongman and woman competitors and coached over 30 athletes through Iron man triathlon!

This is who I am, it’s what I do, it’s what I’m truly passionate about!…

As my Grandma would say coaching is written through the middle of me like a stick of rock!

Thank you for reading and taking the time to understand why I can help you reach your goals!

LAUREN GILL
LAUREN GILL
Lauren has a background in competitive Irish dancing and made it to the World Championships in Belfast; this love of sport then led her to a degree in Sport, Health, Exercise and Nutrition. Completing this expanded her experience in the fitness industry and she soon became engrossed in gym-based injury rehabilitation, sport performance and strength training.

Lauren was Andy Berry’s apprentice and has shadowed him for the past year, learning all about biomechanics and appropriate exercise application, depending on individual needs and restrictions.

Lauren and Andy have worked on many projects together including prepping people for Strongman competitions and working with special populations. Alongside this, together they have assessed and treated many rehabilitation cases of spinal, neck, hip and shoulder injuries.

In addition, Lauren has also worked with runners through prevention of injury; she teaches mobility and applies this to every client. Why treat an injury rather than preventing it in the first place!

She now practises and teaches strongman training, with her first competition coming up in February – exercise is all about finding something you enjoy!!

Generation Health Charity

Generation Health is a registered charity (Registration: 1178156) helping those with a wide variety of health issues! We have already dealt with individuals and groups including exercise for the elderly, heart conditions, eating disorders, depression, diabetes, auto-immune conditions and multiple sclerosis.

We aim to teach the benefits of exercise and physical activity through an educated fitness experience. We pride ourselves on subject knowledge and teaching correct application. Benefits of exercise are not only health related but can also be applied to other areas of life; for example, mobility drills assist with better posture which can boost an individual’s confidence; teaching an elderly person how to lift something up with correct posture will mean less likelihood of injury.

Generation Health offers free bespoke sessions, catered to the needs of those who attend. This is a chance to ask expert leaders questions surrounding health, fitness and nutrition. We already have previous experience working with the above health issues and our only motivation is to help!
